Bellevue di Monaco. This melodious name refers to a family of tables and chairs in a minimalist yet exclusive design – it is a range that has a fascinating story to tell. The family of furniture is the result of an ambitious project in which GO IN was involved as a partner.
The creation
Students from the Faculty of Design at Munich University of Applied Sciences spent a whole semester designing chairs and tables for the café and information centre known as Bellevue di Monaco. Bellevue di Monaco is a residential and cultural centre for young, unaccompanied refugees. It is situated in the Munich district of Gärtnerplatz and was officially opened in June 2018.
“The furniture is contemporary, attractive and commercial. All of this required good design.”
Unique design
The furniture did not just need to go with the 1950s architecture of the renovated complex of buildings; it also needed to be cheap to produce and, ideally, commercially viable – and it ticked all of these boxes. The high stipulations of the catering trade also needed to be met: in other words, the furniture needed to be stackable, sufficiently stable and versatile.

good design
Beautifully shaped, comfortable chairs with a curved steel tube frame and a seat and backrest made of moulded wood. The three-legged tables are made of the same materials and look equally good on their own or as part of an ensemble. The dining table and chair frames are available either in glossy gold or matt black; the seats and tabletops are made of moulded wood and come in light oak and black abachi. The combination of frame and wood colours results in interesting juxtapositions between light and dark.
